Amazing Support For Country Hope Continues in 2019 with the Astor Hotel Weekly Raffle

The Astor Hotel, The Rotary Club of Albury and the Lions Clubs of Albury and Lavington ran camps for children with cancer at Lake Hume for a widely known children’s charity.  With approximately $300,000 having been raised by the local community to support the camps, this was stopped after almost 30 years as camps were no longer local.

It was decided by the clubs that what was really needed was to support a locally based children’s charity.  The objective was to give support to families caring for children with serious illness, providing a special camp for the children and giving both the children, and families some much needed break from treatment and the every day reality of their illnesses.  With this aim in mind it was decided that Country Hope was the perfect fit.

In 2018, The Clubs collaboration with The Astor Hotel, on Young Street Albury held a raffle every Friday on a weekly basis throughout the year.  The raffle has continued into 2019 with this year expected to give away huge jackpots.

Well over $30,000 has been donated to Country Hope so far with a whopping $18,000 plus having been won in jackpots by lucky patrons.

Nikki Grae, Family Liaison Officer from Country Hope says, “Living so far from the major children’s hospitals placing enormous stress on a family caring for extremely sick children.  We just don’t have the same kind of access to medical care and resources locally and this is where Country Hope makes all the difference. The support Country Hope has received through this raffle has been amazing and continues to help us do the wonderful work that we do… helping to make the lives to very sick children and their families that much easier”.

To get behind this great cause you can join us every Friday at the Astor Hotel, Young Street Albury.
