Country Hope's Convoy For Kids 2018 Event a Huge Success
Country Hope’s Convoy for Kids 2018 was held on September 30, attracting over 200 trucks and raising over $40,000 for Country Hope.
It was a fantastic day full of things to do and see. You couldn’t have asked for any more. The local transport industry really got behind us and show their support on the day.
The highest bid of $6000 for lead truck position at the convoy was won by Dawson’s Haulage at auction at the starting point.
Owner-driver Rory Bell bid $3000 to be the second truck in the convoy, and Matt Oates bid $1000 to be third in line.
The convoy included a good mix of old and new trucks. Truck drivers tooted and waved to appreciative crowds as they travelled along the Hume Freeway and through the main streets of Wodonga and Albury to the Albury Showgrounds. A show-and-shine featured four live bands, a chainsaw sculptor, show rides, helicopter joy flights and trade stalls.
Strongman, Derek Boyer, entertained the crowd by pulling a Border Express truck.
Money raised by Country Hope and the 40 plus dedicated volunteers the day will be used to support our local families of children who have been diagnosed with cancer or other chronic life threatening illnesses.
